    Carbon fiber is a kind of special fiber mainly composed of carbon elements. Its carbon content varies with different types, generally more than 90%. Carbon fiber has the characteristics of common carbon materials, such as high temperature resistance, friction resistance, electrical conductivity, heat conduction and corrosion resistance, but different from ordinary carbon materials, its shape has significant anisotropy, soft, can be processed into various fabrics, along the direction of fiber axis shows high strength. Carbon fiber has a small specific gravity and therefore has a high specific strength.


     Carbon fibers are made of artificial chemical fibers with high carbon content, which are not melted during heat treatment. They are treated by thermal stabilization, carbonization and graphitization.


     Carbon fiber is a new material with excellent mechanical properties. Its specific gravity is less than 1/4 of steel. The tensile strength of carbon fiber resin composites is generally more than 3500 Mpa, which is 7-9 times that of steel. The tensile modulus of elasticity is 23 000-43 000 Mpa, which is also higher than that of steel. Therefore, the specific strength of CFRP, i.e. the ratio of strength to density of the material, can reach more than 2000Mpa / (g / cm3), while the specific strength of A3 steel is only about 59Mpa / (g / cm3), and its specific modulus is also higher than that of steel.
